  • Draft a one-page AI readiness statement for your organization that outlines acceptable use boundaries for HR staff.

Canadian Legal and Ethical Guardrails for AI in HR

  • Identify provisions in the Canadian Human Rights Act and provincial human rights codes that create risk when AI is used in screening, hiring, or performance evaluation.
  • Apply a bias-review checklist to a sample AI-generated job posting to flag language that may violate protected-ground requirements.
  • Build a reference card of do's and don'ts for your HR team covering PIPEDA data-handling rules when using AI tools with candidate or employee information.

  • Use AI prompting techniques to draft compliant job postings that meet Canadian Human Rights Act standards, then edit outputs using a structured review template.
  • Generate structured interview question sets using AI, then validate each question against a Canadian human rights compliance checklist before use.
  • Map a new-hire onboarding journey and identify at least five tasks (document collection, orientation scheduling, policy acknowledgement) that can be automated or AI-assisted.
  • Use AI to generate a first draft of an HR policy (e.g., workplace harassment, remote work, or accommodation) aligned with applicable Canadian federal or provincial legislation.
  • Assess your HR team's current AI literacy levels using a structured skills inventory and produce a gap analysis with recommended training priorities.
  • Draft an organizational AI Use Policy for HR that establishes roles, responsibilities, prohibited uses, incident reporting procedures, and alignment with Canada's proposed AI and Data Act (AIDA).
